Student Requirements:
All uniforms should be clean and odor free.
A T-shirt or "rash gaurd" should be worn under your uniform and no jewelry should be worn during class.
The Hapkido Institute school patch should be worn on
the left side of the chest. Please arrive at least 10 minutes early to
change and stretch. If you are late for class, politely let the instructor
know that you are present and ready to join class. Remember to put your attendance card out
before class or during water break.
Orange Belts and up
are required to have sparring gear (purchased through THI) and should bring them to
every sparring class (refer to schedule).
Green Belts
and up are recommended to purchase
Judo style uniforms for everyday use in class. Judo style uniforms are REQUIRED for tournaments.
Purple Belts may be asked to
help out lower belt level classes in order to begin
training as an Assistant Instructor. Once a student becomes an
Assistant Instructor, he or she may be asked to warm up classes or to help small
groups of students with their training. "Assistant Instructor" patches will be given
out by the Instructors at their discretion. Tournaments
We support Sports Jujitsu Competitions 100%. We feel that these competitions
are a great way for our students to compete in a safe, fair and fun environment.

Miscellaneous:
Good sportsmanship and competitor safety are of prime concern in the development
of the Jujitsu America Competition Rules and format. Their aim is
to promote a well balanced approach to competition that provides equal
opportunity for competitors from various martial arts backgrounds to succeed in
this format, whether the competitors' training focus may be in comprehensive and
diverse martial arts such as jujitsu or those martial arts specifically focused
on one particular area such as striking/kicking,
throwing, takedowns, or groundwork. All interested competitors have
an opportunity to succeed and are welcomed to participate in the spirit of healthy,
vigorous, and ethical competition above all. Strong competition provides a healthy
opportunity for participants to test their skills and further their development
physically, mentally, and culturally. Jujitsu America aims to deliver a dynamic, balanced, safe,
and fair competition format.
