Student Etiquette
Always wear a clean, odor-free, neat uniform to class,
and NO jewelry- It can be dangerous to yourself and others. Shirts/rashguards are
REQUIRED underneath all uniforms. Personal hygiene is also important, keep nails on both
hands and feet trimmed back to protect both yourself and your partner.
Additionally, all adult students should bring a towel with them to practice and have it
readily available for use.
Do not demonstrate or
teach any martial arts techniques outside the school without the express permission of the instructor.
Each student is a member of
the THI family, we would appreciate your letting us know if you
are ill, too busy, going on vacation, or will be absent for an extended period.
Changes affecting your training are our concern, stop by or call to let us know.
No sparring or contact allowed without black belt supervision.
Do not pursue your training so strongly as to injure
yourself or others. If overly fatigued or having ANY pain you may drop out or
stop a specific activity without the instructor's permission. Realize that training
with an injury can lead to further and more serious injury -- pay attention to what
your body tells you!
Always show respect to your
senior instructors and to your classmates. Take it upon yourself to
encourage students of lower level belts BUT DO NOT critique or teach other students
without the consent of an instructor.
KIDS (Parents please read with/to your child)
KIDS CLASS, we would appreciate a greeting when entering and leaving the school. After class is dismissed, KIDS must not leave without a parent - If your parent is outside waiting in a car, you must inform the instructor before leaving. Parents please notify us if your child is supposed to leave with another classmate's family member.
Whenever you arrive during a class
already in session, politely inform your instructor that you would like to join the
class.
KIDS! If you need to use the bathroom RIGHT AWAY and the instructor is busy PLEASE GO! We'll understand and be happier that our mats stay dry! (Please flush the toilet!) Otherwise, do not leave the class without permission from the instructor.
Kids should address all black belts
as either "sir" or "ma'am", and Mr., Mrs., or Ms. where appropriate. This is done to show respect for their instructor status while in the dojang.
Always show respect to your classmates (Especially lower ranking classmates). Take it upon yourself to
encourage students of lower level belts BUT DO NOT teach other students
without the consent of an instructor.
Do not attempt to practice any techniques you have not been
shown directly by your instructor unless you have asked him or her in advance.
All students are responsible to keep the dojang clean, including the changing rooms and bathroom. Please put everything back in the proper place.
Don't argue with your classmates - if someone is bothering you please let an instructor right away! WE WANT YOU TO HAVE FUN WHILE TRAINING!!!
